As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace. 1 Peter 4:10

Distinction One Ministry Approach: Edification, Excellence, Quality (EEQ Philosophy)

About Distinction One Ministry

Distinction One is a ministry founded in 2019 by Joel Kiwanuka who serves as the Chairman and CEO of the ministry. Also, Solomon Nkugwa serves as the Co-founder and senior organizational advisor. We seek to provide other ministers with technical support, capacity building and ministry discipleship leading to the development of Christian talent, as well as the cultivation of their giftings and anointings.

We also seek to build capacity among service providers such as sound and PA system managers, as well as studio engineers who facilitate the kingdom of God. Our goal is to see that Christian ministers in the gospel music field, other performing arts disciplines and the spoken word of God can serve with distinction. Our Ministry seeks to provide this platform for them to edify, excel and minister with quality output.

Vision

Distinction One envisions itself as the institution of choice which provides exceptional capacity building, training and development in the field of the performing arts, sound engineering and equipment and studio production among Christian churches, institutions, and other settings; with the purpose of expanding the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Our Mission

is to ensure that the Church; ministers of the word, studio engineers, stage performers, sound engineers, gospel music ministers, and other related ministries in a Christian setting are empowered and equipped with the right tools they need to serve with distinction. The impact of their ministry will be portrayed through their edification, excellence and quality of output-for the glory of God’s Kingdom.

Plan

To execute this ministry by developing spaces and specific tools which include:A Center for the Performing Arts ,Capacity Building/Ministry Delivery-Workshops,Sound Equipment and their Accessories/Backline Training and Field Practice, A Production Studio,Public, Private and Corporate Performances /Ministry/Outcomes

Approach

Approach: Edification, Excellence, Quality

The Distinction One graduate serves with distinction. He or she will be a minister who edifies, serves with excellence and will be equipped with the tools to appreciate and understand how quality is delivered to fully support their ministry.
  • Edification

Distinction One believes that one’s ministry be it through vocal expression, instruments or spoken word, should edify their audience or the body of Christ. It should challenge the mind to think about the call to action for change. It should feed the spiritual soul of the listener, causing them to think about their current ways and leading them to change, revive or believe in the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. It should inspire those who listen and watch to hope, believe and even cry tears of joy for the redemption, love and peace waiting in the wings for them when they respond to the call.

  • Distinction One believes that any art form or spoken word should be presented with a skill that demonstrates an on-going dedication to learning, research, development and sharpening the saw out of respect and honor to God. This means that one commits to becoming a seasoned and experienced presenter in all forms whether as an instrumentalist, speaker, stage designer, studio vocalist or sound engineer. We believe in the right kind of practice which not only makes perfect but also permanent. We believe in the professional use of live musical accompaniments to display ones art form to the fullest of one’s ability and anointing.

  • Distinction One believes that the quality of output should always fully support the minister on stage. Any art form or spoken word at a concert, or a gospel revival should be supported with the right levels of sound without which, the intended outcome can be sabotaged. It means that those who do the work of sound engineering understand and appreciate the quality of output needed to support the ones presenting on stage. This means that they should be willing to go through the rigors of learning all about sound technology and engineering through tailored training. As well, stakeholders such as pastors, evangelists, gospel artists, studio directors, Christian institution leaders and those who have access to funding the work of God, should invest in making sure that their sound engineers are fully equipped with the right tools. This includes both the theoretical and practical knowledge in sound engineering-as well as the type of sound systems they are going to use to support those who minister on stage.

The Challenge which Distinction One Ministry seeks to Address

This space which seeks to provide other ministers with technical support, capacity building and ministry discipleship is unique. One which not so many visionaries have occupied especially in most churches from our developing nations of Africa. Oftentimes-either due to lack of resources or technical knowledge, ministry is done haphazardly, Some just muddle through for lack of formal training. The outcomes of these challenges negatively affect edification, excellence and quality. The overall ministry then-gets compromised because of the

  • Lack of well-trained ministers and Gospel music artists.
  • Lack of well-designed initiatives for capacity building/ministry strategies/workshops.
  • Lack of the right mix of sound equipment and their accessories.
  • Lack of professional sound and studio engineers
  • Lack of discipleship which is offered through servant-leadership
  • Lack of an approach to guide standards in ministry delivery such as the EEQ philosophy
  • Lack of funding to sponsor, design, manage, monitor and evaluate the technical support of a ministry like Distinction One

The Specific Distinction One Need/Ask

Distinction One ministry seeks to bridge this gap so as to meet the standard or even excel in comparison to secular productions. Therefore, Distinction One Ministry is kindly asking our old and prospective friends, well-wishers and other ministry institutions around the world to partner with us through various resources, and financial contributions. Specifically, this kind of support will help us to administrate and run logistics which include the purchase or donations and transportation of equipment, e.g., public address systems, musical instruments, and other studio engineering gadgets which support the work of the Kingdom. Also, the donations may not be limited to sound equipment but they can include other technical and physical materials. These may include sound engineering curriculums, donations in missionary workshops, Music theory, vocal training sessions, other material items like clothes, bicycles for evangelism, blankets, mattresses, mosquito nets and other healthcare supplies which are relevant to the work of rural evangelism.

As well, Christian missionaries around the world who minister in some of the developing countries in Africa where churches and other Christian institutions are affected by some of the challenges mentioned-will be confident that their next mission will be successful through the Distinction One Ministry of edification, excellence and quality.

With this continual support, Distinction One will be positioned to ensure that Christian ministers in the gospel music field, other performing arts and the spoken word of God are empowered to serve at their maximum abilities and anointings.
